Dialogue Boxes
Mousercise- Day 3, Step S- Conversations with your PC....

Some of the command lines in your program Menus will bring you to dialogue boxes.  Dialogue boxes are similar to Microsoft Pop-ups in that they are small windows that do not have ID labels on the taskbar, and they lock you out of the original window by taking precedence.  But they do behave a bit differently.

Microsoft messages pop-up automatically when the computer senses you are doing something wrong.
Dialogue boxes are menus that you elect to open when you are looking to make some choices.

With Microsoft messages, your only choice is to read it and click the OK.
A Dialogue Box contains choices.  It may use radio buttons, check boxes, drop-down menus, hyperlinks or text typing areas.  After you have made your selections you must confirm your selections by clicking the OK button.  If your hands are on the keyboard, it is easier use the Enter key.

If you get into a dialogue box by mistake,
you may close it by clicking the X on this little window, or clicking the cancel button.
I find it is easier to use the Escape key on the keyboard.  (labeled Esc in the upper left corner)

At the top of the page, click the File Menu/ Page Setup command to see a sample dialogue box.
Click the radio button for landscape and see how the mini sample page rotates.
If you were printing on index cards you could use the drop down menu to make that selection.
Note that if you try to click the NEXT button below, the dialogue box won't let you leave.
The Dialogue Box has the darker title bar.  It is the active window till you close it.
Click the Cancel button to return to this page.  See the color return to the Title Bar?
