When you move your mouse around on a page, its appearance changes.

This arrow pointing upper left is the cursor's most popular appearance.
Many times, pointing will help you gather information.  
Hover over an icon or a shortcut button to see embedded messages.  

I beam

 I  

This symbol denotes that you are in a text area. 
The I beam fits nicely between letters and is handy for editing.

This means you are on the edge of an image
     whose size you can change.
hyperlink
or
hotspot

This denotes an embedded website address.

Hyperlinks may be embedded in either text or graphics.
